Art: Big Ben & The Red Arrows

TIMELESS is the name of one of the first paintings in a collection from aviation artist David Bent.

It features the marriage of two of Britain’s best loved icons – Big Ben and the Red Arrows.

At a time when British patriotism is high, these paintings are sure to be a hit when they go on sale later this year.

This latest painting has just been completed by David in his studio in Swindon – just in time for the start of the airshow season and the Reds’ first display at Southend on May 29.

Below is a mini gallery showing the art in progress. It also highlights the fun detailing which David has made a name for himself for doing.

One such detail is the reflection of a Harrier in one of the pilot’s visors (a nod to the Harrier’s retirement) and the crew who are looking at the time on Big Ben as they fly by.

David will exhibit his work, including Timeless, at various airshows this year and has also designed the poster for the Royal International Air Tattoo.
