How to Ski Turb

TAKE two Turbulents, add skis and a dose of adventure and you get this great video showing how to ski turb.

It was made by Sam Whatmough, a pilot at the Tiger Club in Headcorn Aerodrome.

Whilst most airfields across the UK are covered by snow, the Tiger Club positively welcomed it. Last year the club managed to get one of its Ski Turbs airborne and now this year they’ve got two of them up for a spot of formation flying.

Sam is also the director of the Air Ministry, a group of military and civilian instructors that runs two formation flying courses a year, one in the autumn and one in the spring at North Weald. It’s open to all pilots and if you can get friends together who all own the same aircraft, then all the better.

Featuring some great in-cockpit footage as well as seeing some great formation flying we also get a glimpse of what it must look like to fly over the English countryside when its covered in snow. Whilst many of us other private pilots are grounded, having skis on the Turbs has allowed these guys to get airborne and show us the sights we’ve all been imagining we would see if only we could go flying ourselves.
