FlapJacked Protein Pancake & Baking Mix review

FlapJacked pancake mix review

Mixes together really nicely

US Brand, FlapJacked, is currently launching here in the UK and we’ve just tried out their Protein Pancake mix which comes in four flavours.

We were sent the Apple & Cinnamon and the Buttermilk flavours to try out and we’ve been surprised at just how good they are.

I started with the Apple & Cinnamon first. As soon as you add the water to the powder and mix you get a lovely aroma wafting out. Usually the first pancake you make is the worst, but my first FlapJacked one turned out great. I made a batch of three. While they smell wonderful, they didn’t taste as good; they’re still OK, but I found I had to add extra cinnamon and some maple syrup to mine.

Pours nicely in to the pan

Meanwhile the Buttermilk flavour tastes delicious on its own, but is also ideal to add fruit to.

Each serving gives you 200 to 240 calories with 20g of protein and 15 to 19g of carbs and 5g of fibre.
FlapJacked also makes Gluten Free Protein Muffin mixes (6 flavours) that come in individual tubs that can be microwaved in just one minute. We’ll post a review on these soon.

Ready to flip once the bubbles appear

No it’s not burnt, the Apple & Cinnamon flavour gives a darker colour

One of the other really cool things about the mix is that you can also use it for baking – that means making things like waffles, loaves and cookies. See recipes here.
Price £7.99 for 340g or you can get a bigger 680g bag for £12.99.
