SOME of the world’s best music festivals now take place at ski resorts during the winter.

And to prove it the ski holidays expert, Crystal , has put together a list of the top five winter music and ski festivals for the 2014 season.

SNOWBOMBING

Mayrhofen, Austria: 7 – 12 April 2014

Billed as the greatest show on snow, Snowbombing sets out to offer the ultimate winter Glastonbury experience. Its disco venue is made completely out of snow and there’s a town-wide fancy dress street party. Along with big name acts, Snowbombing is established as the highlight of the season.

BRITS FESTIVAL

Tignes France: 30 March – 5 April 2014

The British Snow Tour (BRITS) mixes serious snow sports competition with world-class music and entertainment. The main focus of the festival is the annual British Snowboard and Freeski Championships, an event that attracts the best freestyle boarders and skiers the UK has to offer. The festival takes its après ski just as seriously though, with cutting-edge club nights and raucous parties on offer.

IBIZA ROCKS THE SNOW

Meribel, France: December 2013 to early April 2014

This newly launched festival takes the well-known Ibiza Rocks brand from the poolside to the piste. It features the hottest breakthrough live music acts and DJs plus daily après ski events, street parties and much more.

SNOWBOXX

Arinsal, Andorra: 26 – 30 March 2014

After taking place for the first time last year, Snowbox has doubled its capacity and programme for a second season, firmly asserting itself as one of the best value-for-money ski music festivals in Europe. This festival’s appeal lies strongly in its location in Andorra, a small duty-free principality where everything is cheap, the mountains are high, the snow is deep and the sun (almost) always shines.

HORIZON FESTIVAL

8 – 14 March 2014: Bansko, Bulgaria

Now in its second year, Horizon Festival offers electronic music lovers an intimate, underground music experience with a large dollop of authentic Bulgarian charm thrown in. It’s also one of the more affordable festivals. You can ski, snowboard, relax in a luxury spa and feast on local food – all without breaking the bank.
