Chalet Rosière in the French Alps

Chalet Rosière in the French Alps

In December, Chalet Rosière opens the doors for its first winter season.

Imagine doing yoga here…

This boutique lodge set in the heart of the French Alps is going to specialise in retreats that combine skiing, yoga and luxury wellbeing – three of our favourite things.

It’s in a rural setting, just a 10-minute drive from the resort of La Rosière, and has stunning views over the Tarantaise Valley.

The co-founders, Philip and Alex Volkers, left behind their hectic lives in London in 2015 in search of a more fulfilling way of life. It was originally a farmhouse that was in the Volkers family since 1991.

The couple have now decided to share the magical rejuvenating powers of Chalet Rosière with other weary souls through their various wellbeing packages and retreats during the coming season.

Alex says that previous guests say they have the most stunning location in the Tarantaise valley. “I firmly agree with them,” she enthuses. “It’s just so idyllic. We’re situated on a south facing slope with 180-degree mountain views and nothing but alpine meadows and forests to the south and west of the chalet. It’s really exciting to be so close to nature. We have deer and wild boar in our local forest and eagles that circle in the valley.”

Combined ski-yoga experiences are the key offerings at Chalet Rosière, embracing the growing trend for winter sports enthusiasts to incorporate yoga.

Other wellbeing offerings include their extensive holistic therapy treatments, optional Vegan Detox menu, The Terrasse outdoor spa- featuring sauna, Jacuzzi, shower and fire pit, a meditation tipi tent and Pilates.

It’s all about balance, of course, so we’re pleased to hear that guests can also enjoy a gourmet Savoyard menu paired with wines from the Chalet’s very own wine cellar – ching ching!

Here’s a rundown of what’s on offer and by the sounds of things, you’ll want to book up fast.

Ski Yoga Retreats – Throughout the season, Chalet Rosière will run a number of Full Moon Ski Yoga retreats. These combine yoga, meditation, skiing and snowboarding with holistic massage therapy, vegan dining and mindful rituals.
