Outer Peace initiative from Arc’teryx

A CAD$ 1million commitment to help individuals discover nature

Outer Peace initiative from Arc’teryx

It’s no secret that being out in nature is good for us. Many of us have rediscovered the natural world during lockdown, but many others are yet to realise its powerful benefits – largely due to lack of knowledge or not being able to access natural spaces.

This is why Arc’teryx has come up with the Outer Peace initiative (a clever play on the expression Inner Peace) and the brand is pledging one million Canadian dollars to campaigns and projects around the world that help make it easier to access the outdoors and to conserve nature.

Over the coming months, Arc’teryx will announce some of its Outer Peace partners who will benefit from this large injection of funding during the next five years.

George Weetman, Vice President of Brand and Digital Commerce at Arc’teryx explains the reason behind the initiative: “Research across different fields has explored the positive connections between nature and humans, and the findings are consistent: nature is transformative,” he says. “As a brand, our purpose is to connect people with nature and design, and to help them discover that the path to a better world and a better self begins outside. We believe the outdoors is for everyone, and with our Outer Peace program, we will bring forward initiatives that generate awareness and create opportunities for time well spent in nature, wherever it can be found.”

In the UK, Venture Trust is one such organisation that will benefit from a grant from Arc’teryx. In 2021/22 the funding boost will help Venture Trust support 120 disadvantaged young people through an Outdoor Therapy counselling service. Additionally, over 300 young people and adults will benefit from enhanced outdoor work throughout their core programmes nationally.
